| Dublin is my test dog for BA Bandanas. |
I receive no fewer than two hundred million small business self-help article links a week from Linkedin. And sometimes I actually read them. Not so much to learn anything new but to affirm just how spot-on I am in everything I'm doing.
If I had to sum them up in a few, Tweetable statements, they would read something like this.
BUSINESS START-UP TRUTH #1: You know you're in business when you go on a business trip.
Think about it. If receiving your new business credit card in the mail gives you tingles, imagine what actually USING that credit card to buy two tickets to Seattle for a week of professional development meetings and customer field research does to your heart rate, especially when said obligations occur on snow pack measured in feet not inches? Or upgrading to a—BOOM!—minivan instead of a subcompact because you need to haul around extra Bomb Ass branded wearables and a small but powerful contingency of brand representatives? Or picking up the tab after an intense, microbrew fueled, two-hour debate over which piece of anatomical real estate is best suited for a Bomb Ass temporary tattoo?
You've just turned a useless piece of plastic into a "business tool." And if that isn't galactic-sized entrepreneurial magic at work, Mr. Richard Branson of Virgin globetrotting fame, I don't know what is.
